Coffey County Lake
New Strawn, Kansas
Coffey County Lake is dedicated exclusively to fishing. The lake has been featured on national television programs such as Jimmy Houston's Outdoors and Bill Saiff's Rod and Reel. Many fishermen have shared their fishing experiences on YouTube.
Coffey County Lake is on the Catfish Chasers Tournament circuit in August this year. This overnight tournament is the only time that night fishing is permitted by lake management.
Daytime fishing tournaments are allowed by making arrangements with lake management.
Drake Park & City Dam
Burlington, Kansas
Drake Park is located on a scenic stretch of the Neosho River on the east edge of the City of Burlington. Drake Park and the City Dam provide visitors with an opportunity to enjoy fishing, picnicking, sightseeing, and camping.
Drake Park is also a popular spot for camping with 8 concrete RV stalls equipped with water and electrical hookups.
Burlington City Dam is a favorite fishing spot of residents and visitors alike. Several species of fish are found in the waters flowing over the City Dam, including white bass, crappie, spoonbill, carp, and drum.
Flint Hills National Wildlife Refuge
Hartford, Kansas
Refuge waters include nine ponds and a small part of John Redmond Reservoir. The Neosho River flows approximately 20 miles through the refuge. Fishing is also available along Eagle Creek, Lebo Creek and Troublesome Creek. Fishing is permitted year-round within open areas of the refuge. Available species include white bass, crappie and catfish.
Gridley City Lake
Gridley, Kansas
The Gridley City Lake, covering over 30 surface acres, is located one mile north of Gridley. It has a fish population of sunfish, channel catfish, crappie, large mouth bass, small mouth bass, walleye, and wiper. The lake has an aggressive fish management program that focuses on sustainable quality and quantity. There is free fishing to anglers holding a Kansas State Fishing License.
John Redmond Reservoir
New Strawn, Kansas
Consisting of 9,400 acres, the John Redmond Reservoir offers a variety of the finest in water recreation, including boating, fishing and other water sports. John Redmond Reservoir, along with other lakes, ponds, rivers and streams located in Coffey County, creates thousands of acres of water to play in, and around.
Kids Pond at West Park
Lebo, Kansas
All children 15 years of age and under can fish the pond located at “Ye Olde City Park” . The pond is closed to fishing each January to be stocked with trout. Trout season opens February 1st and runs until April 30th. All ages (regardless of residency) can angle for Trout after purchasing the proper licenses and a City trout stamp. Trout Stamps can be obtained at City Hall . Other species in the pond include Channel Catfish, Walleye, Largemouth Bass and Crappie.
Lebo City Lake
Lebo, Kansas
The City of Lebo, with the cooperation and financial assistance of the Coffey County Commission and grant funds from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, renovated and rebuilt our city lake in 1997. The Lebo City Lake is open for public fishing throughout the entire year. State laws require fisherman 16 years of age and over to obtain a state fishing license.
New Strawn City Lake
New Strawn, Kansas
From an old, nearly silted in farm pond to a renovated, 3.5 acre City lake, New Strawn’s City Lake has become a center of recreational sport fishing.
Aggressive fish management by the City of New Strawn and Kansas Wildlife and Parks Department has afforded residents and visitors alike, a great fishing experience.
City lake user permit and valid Kansas Fishing License are required to fish in the New Strawn City Lake.
